I’m ready for summer.
Bring on the green!
Bring on the vibrant beauty of flowers
And fuzzy bottomed bumblebees
Dizzy with delight.
Bring on the blue!
Bluebird days that melt into
Marmalade sunsets
And the fiery hues of a campfire
Surrounded by friends and stories and
Burnt marshmallows with chocolate drizzling down the edges.
Bring on the water balloon fights
And long hours at the park
Tea party picnics with tiny sandwiches
And huge hunks of watermelon goodness.
Bring on new life!
Tiny seeds erupting into gigantic feasts,
And more seeds to make us dream of next year’s harvest too.
I’m ready for sunlight burnin til midnight
Which is surely Alaska’s way of saying:
Sit up!
Pay attention!
Beauty abounds!
You are surrounded by astonishing things!
And perhaps God Himself smiled when he designed the midnight sun to collide with the most beautiful time on Earth. It just wouldn’t seem right to have such long days when everything was dead and barren.
But here we are, approaching the longest day of the year and I am soaking it up. After what felt like an eternal winter it’s good to be reminded:
